Miranda Emmerson is a playwright and author.
Miranda grew up in south-west London before studying English at Oxford and Playwriting Studies at Birmingham. In her twenties she worked as a secretary, receptionist, bookseller, shop assistant and charity worker. On the way towards her career in writing she edited and wrote for charity and magazine websites, and scripted audio magazines for people with a learning disability.
She now lives in South Wales with her husband and daughters. (Mae hi’n siarad Cymraeg. Ond mae hi’n ddrwg iawn arno.)
She's been a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 4 Extra (sometimes as Miranda Davies) where she specialises in adapting books for dramatic serialisation.
She is the author of one travel memoir and two novels set in some of the less-chronicled communities of 60s London.
She recently completed a PhD at Cardiff University’s School of Modern Languages looking at the history of BBC Radio drama adaptation and the way in which it has imagined and adapted the regions and nations of the United Kingdom. She now teaches the class Modes of Writing on the Global Cultures MA at Cardiff University.
